Kids in HuddleCommunity - GoFIT

Founded by Susan Jaye-Kaplan the purpose of GoFIT is to provide health and fitness programs to underserved women and youth in inner city and rural settings.

This mission includes education as to the benefits of health and fitness as a means of physical and mental wellness.

Switzer

Kathrine Switzer who was a speaker at this year's Bay Path College Women's Conference on April 29 was a guest at the home of Go FIT Foundation President and Founder, Susan Jaye-Kaplan and her husband, Stephen G. Kaplan of Longmeadow. Ms. Switzer did a benefit breakfast for the Go FIT Foundation on Saturday morning, April 30, 2005.

Ms. Switzer was the first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon in 1967 and was known as the woman who broke the gender barrier for woman's running in the United States. She later went on to win the New York Marathon and was the person instrumental in bringing woman's marathon running to the Olympics in 1984. Ms Switzer resides in New York with her husband, Roger Robinson a well known New Zealander and author and runner. Ms.Switzer is an Honorary Board member of Go FIT and a personal friend of the Kaplan's.

Brenda Garton,Director of College Relations at Western New England College and her intern , Bill Rinaldi were present as they are doing a video promotional piece for Go FIT through Western New England College.

In attendance were: Susan Jaye-Kaplan, Brenda Garton, Director of College Relations, Western New England College, Kathrine Switzer, Ruth Webber, Sally Schneider Go FIT Board Chair, and Stephen G. Kaplan, Go FIT Advisor.
